No matter what the reason, fans of instrumental music are sure to love this cover of ‘Hallelujah’ by Leonard Cohen.
Blessed by the power of two cellos, it’s unlike anything you’ve heard of before.
For anyone who doesn’t know, “Hallelujah” is a song written by Canadian singer Leonard Cohen.
It was initially released in 1984 to only mediocre success at the time. Fortunately, the track found itself in the charts again thanks to yet another recording by the late Jeff Buckley.
“Hallelujah” rose in popularity after being featured in the film Shrek in 2001 as well.
Since then, many other arrangements have been recorded for albums and concerts – this by 2CELLOS being one of them.
Of all the “Hallelujah” covers out there, this one is beautifully unique. And the whole experience is taken a step higher thanks to the video’s amazing visuals.
Surely both Leonard Cohen and Jeff Buckley would have loved it.
This isn’t the first time 2CELLOS nailed a cover. In 2011, the duo – consisting of Croatian cellists Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser – released their first video: A rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal.” The clip became a viral hit, having amassed 830 million views on YouTube over the years. Other notable covers by 2CELLOS are “Thunderstruck” and The Pirates of the Carribean theme.
