6-year-old sings 78-year-old Disney song and it’s full of sweet nostalgia

The family that plays together stays together. In this case, plays music.

And this trio chose a real tearjerker to perform – the song “Baby Mine” from Walt Disney’s Dumbo, which was recently revived in the film’s remake by the band Arcade Fire.

Nothing beats the sweet mother-son song that Dumbo’s mom coos to him as she’s rocking him to sleep with her trunk.

Even more of a tearjerker? Watching an adorable 6-year-old sing the song with her parents.

“Baby Claire” Crosby has been singing for an Internet audience since she was only 3 years old. Her father, Dave Crosby, thought that listening to her sing was the cutest thing he’d ever heard.

So he took a video of her and uploaded it online to share with family and friends.

But the video was too cute not to keep sharing and “Baby Claire” soon went viral, sparking a career for the young girl when she was little more than a toddler.

And like so many kids, she really loves her Disney music.

Her first video was a clip of her singing “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid.

“I thought, ‘This is awesome, I’m gonna start a YouTube channel with my daughter,’” her dad said. “Our first video goes viral. I just posted it on my Facebook wall and we had this crazy experience — she goes on some talk shows and all that stuff and basically our YouTube channel is born. From that, it was just one experience after another.”

She has performed on The Ellen Show as well as Steve Harvey’s Little Big Shots and The Voice. And, with two million YouTube subscribers, she already has her own adoring fan base.

Claire might be 6 years old now, but she still has a love for Disney. So in honor of the re-release of Dumbo in March 2019, Claire performed the movie’s key song “Baby Mine.”

What’s doubly special about this performance is that she got to sing with both of her parents accompanying her.

Claire has appeared alongside her father many times in her videos, most notably when they sang another viral video – “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story.

“That song was not relevant at all, but it was just a song that Claire loved, so we did it,” Crosby said. “Creating the content that we enjoy making, that what Claire’s really into … it’s good music that will touch people.”

While it’s not as common to see her mom on camera, Ashley accompanies her daughter on the piano while dad plays the guitar.

Between her parents, Claire is as confident and adorable as any pint-sized performer can be.

One of the sweetest things about Claire’s performance is her look of intense concentration as she sings. She scrunches up her little face and leans in close to the microphone.

There’s big passion in that small package!

There’s another special moment when her father joins in.

The song itself is sweet but melancholy since Dumbo’s mom doesn’t survive the movie (d0es any Disney mom?) and so the lyrics take on special meaning to those in the know.

Baby mine, don’t you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part
Baby of mine

As the song ends, the two give each other an adorable fist bump and it’s clear that Chloe’s dad couldn’t be prouder of his little star.
