Dancers turn into human kaleidoscopes for “Bohemian Rhapsody” routine
Meet the Black Diamonds and their heir DrillDance performance.
Using the classic hit “Bohemian Rapsody”, these girls dazzle the crowd with a performance unlike any other.
These girls display some serious precision.
DrillDance teams perform in unison. Also called dance squads, they perform at games and other school related events.
Not to be confused with cheer dancing as they do not cheer nor do crazy jumps and athletic stunts for show.
Drill teams have routines set to a specific song or theme which they all perform at the same time.
Dressed half in black and half in colored print, holding orange props that resemble massive feathers, these girls set about expressing the words of the classic Queen hit with their moves.
“Anyway the wind blows doesn’t really matter to me.”
With graceful turns and and waves of their props, the music comes alive through the hands of these ladies.
Striking colors and striking poses all around.
This is definitely a unique way of promoting school spirit and loyalty. The physical and mental coordination needed to do this is amazing!
They spread out across the stage and bring to life the words of Freddie Mercury with the use of their props.
“Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide. No escape from reality.”
Arguably one of the best rock bands of all time.
Now actually resembling a silhouette, they form a line and perform a sequence that looks like a mirror reflection or a shadow trailing along to their every move.
It looks really good. Then they break the line and step away from each other using their props as a skirt for added effect.
Bohemian Rapsody was written by Freddie Mercury and is a 6 minute suite. amicture of ballad, opera, and hard rock, it was released for the band’s 1975 album A night at the opera.
It is a song everyone knows. A song that transcends time and generations even spawning a film of the same name.
It is naturally considered to be one of the greatest rock songs of all time.
These young ladies did it justice with their own interpretation.
You can see how dedicated they are to their craft.
There must have been so many hours of practice, sleepless nights and sweaty days just to get it perfect.
It shows too. That audience was surely mesmerized and not quite sure how to react to each sequence of moves.
How creative those minds must be to think of such moves using those props to a Queen song.
Their confidence and poise clearly shows too. Nailed it, ladies!
That hard rock section allowed these girls to let it all out.
Air guitars out, head banging to Brian May’s iconic guitar riff, these queens of DrillDance rock it out on stage bringing more life to an already awesome performance.
They assemble at the end and form what looks to be a flower and rotate to the fading piano of the song.
A very cool finish and they march off to another Queen classic “Another one bites the dust.”
Let these ladies astonish you by watching below.
