Old George Strait performance rocks crowd with tribute to “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”
As most of us probably know, Brooks & Dunn is an American country music duo founded in 1990.
Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn are among the country music’s most successful artists, which is why we’re not surprised that so many of the biggest country stars came to the taping of ACM Presents: Brooks & Dunn—The Last Rodeo at the MGM Grand.
Among many great acts, we’re about to show you George Strait’s phenomenal salute performance.
It must feel great when one of the nation’s best-selling artists performs a song in your honor!
Known as the “King of Country,” George Harvey Strait is an American country music singer, songwriter, actor and music producer.
According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Strait is the 12th best-selling album recording artist in the United States.
He holds a record for the largest indoor concert in North America when more than 100,000 people came to see his 2014 live concert at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
George has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and has garnered 61 number-one songs on all country charts.
Another impressive fact is that he’s had at least one single enter the top 10 on the Billboard charts for 30 consecutive years.
And now he appears in “The Last Rodeo” to perform a song called “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” for his fellow country legends.
Strait surely managed to surprise his friends.
Brooks & Dunn released their first record in 1991, and the hits have been piling up ever since.
With more than 30 million albums sold, they went on to become country music’s best-selling duo.
With the influence of honky-tonk, mainstream country and rock, their hit song “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” re-popularized line dancing in the United States.
After 12 studio albums, Kix Brooks said that “they needed a break.”
Any additional information can be found on the official website.
In this video, we see both men seated in front of the stage, blushing because their colleagues came to surprise them.
Aside from George Strait, Kennie Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift and many others attended the event.
Strait’s performance here is like a glass of the finest vine for a toast to an amazing evening.
When he came on stage, George first joked about often being asked what kind of music he listens to.
“I answer with three simple words: Brooks and Dunn,” he said.
The audience was thrilled after the announcement of his choice song. Strait explained that it’s one of his favorite songs by the group.
He then proceeded to sing, and the energy in the room was magical.
If anyone was in doubt about why this man is called the king, now it has all been cleared away.
He owned the song while paying a lot of respect to the original, and the energetic backing vocals made it even catchier.
You can see Brooks and Dunn proudly smiling on the side.
The fast rhythm, awesome vocals and great atmosphere will make you want to get up and dance!
The man brought the house down, and he did it like a boss.
Everyone was swaying and tapping along—clearly everyone was really into the song.
We say that George nailed it completely. It was published in 2012, and almost seven million people have seen it on YouTube.
A lot of people commented that there is only one king of the country, and he wears a cowboy hat instead of a crown.
We have to agree—George Strait undoubtedly deserves the flattering title.
