Rare 1984 Video Of Susan Boyle Singing ‘The Way We Were’ Surfaces And Quickly Goes Viral

More than 30 years ago, incredible singer Susan Boyle confidently strode through a crowd of people gathered at the Fir Park Social Club in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, to take the stage and participate in a singing contest.

Then 22, Susan performed “The Way We Were” by Barbara Streisand and wowed the crowd.

Susan’s voice quelled the noisy crowd. Somehow, a Scottish newspaper staffer managed to find the footage and shared it on the internet where it’s since gone viral.

The singing contest was between locals and visitors from a Midlands club. Susan was asked to fill in for the Coventry Tam O’Shanter Club’s team after a member had dropped out.

Susan proves that she’s been talented long before she was discovered. Everyone in the audience hushes quickly when she begins singing.

It was years later when Susan catapulted to international stardom after her jaw-dropping performance of Les Misérables’ “I Dreamed a Dream” on Britain’s Got Talent.

In her debut on the hit televised talent show, Susan’s remarks that she hoped to have a career like Broadway star Elaine Paige despite being 47 drew some doubters.

But once she began singing, everyone was in awe. Her performance was viewed millions of times thereafter and her debut album sold more than nine million copies.

According to Billboard, Boyle’s debut album, “I Dreamed a Dream,” sold more than 3.7 million copies in America, coming in second only to Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” for one year’s total record sales.

After her wild success, Susan searched for undiscovered talent to join her for a duet on her upcoming album “The Gift.” She has since released half a dozen albums and has sold millions of albums worldwide. She’s even performed before the queen!

Listen to Susan’s remarkable and unmistakable voice in this vintage footage before she became famous.
