Woman in red joins Darius Rucker with moving Christmas performance

Christmas just brings out all the positivity and love from people.

It’s the season of cheer for most but for Christians and Catholics around the world, Christmas is THE celebration they wait for annually.

It is the birth of Jesus. The story of how an angel told Mary that she’s to be the mother of God’s Son while Joseph will be the earthly father, of how they only found a manger while shepherds and three wise men came to visit.

Christmas carols have immortalized that moment.

One such classic is “What child is this?” which was written in 1865 by a man named William Chatterton Dix.

He underwent a spiritual renewal as he was recovering from an illness. The song is based on his poem.

Darius Rucker sings this beautiful hymn with the lovely Lindsey Stirling accompanying him on violin.

Rucker was once the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of that awesome band called Hootie & the Blowfish. He’s now a country music singer who gives importance to his faith.

He once told Rocking God’s House,

“I write and co-write most of my songs, and faith and my relationship with God is very important to me. He has blessed me with everything I write my songs about.”

It’s only fitting that Darius got to sing this classic carol at the CMA Country Christmas 2020 event.

Would you check out that stage!

It’s an evening setting with lighted trees surrounding Darius and Lindsey.

And it’s not Christmas if there’s no snow! Or at least depending on where you’re from. But the effect here is magic!

“What child is this
Who lay to rest
On Mary’s lap is sleeping
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keeping”

If you follow the lyrics closely, it speaks of the adoration of the shepherds who went to visit the infant Jesus.

The same shepherds who were watching over their flock at night when an angel of the Lord appeared to them bringing them “good news of great joy” because in the town of David, the Messiah is born.

As Darius sings and Lindsey plays, the song continues on, affirming and answering the questions of the shepherds during their visit.

“This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste, haste to bring him laud
The Babe, the Son of Mary”

Lindsey is hypnotic, stepping here and there as she plays her fiddle.

She even does a few kicks and leg extensions to emphasize some of the notes. And she looks enchanting in that red outfit.

The set and the performance has that operatic theme to it and it really works.

The South Carolina born singer impresses with his singing.

It’s what he’s always wanted to do.

The Charleston native and the violinist from Arizona just delivered a wonderful Christmas present.

If you want to really feel the message of Christmas, watch and listen to this rendition. It’s worth your time.

It’s a treat to watch and listen to! Play it below!
