Baby Albino Elephant Gets Welcomed Into Herd

Knowing that you belong to a loving family is one of the best feelings ever.

Khanyisa is a baby albino elephant who was abandoned by her family at such a young age.

Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD) in South Africa takes orphaned elephant calves and introduces them into an adoptive pack known as the Jabulani Herd so that they can live happily.

Even the elephants know the importance of unity.

In fact, according to The Independent, elephants are known to live in big herds where female elephants will usually look after each others’ calves.

With the elephants’ way of staying together, their survival rate grows exponentially.

At the same time, they are also known to develop close relationships between members of the family and friends.

The Independent also says, “There have been reports of elephants forming lifelong friendships with each other, and they even mourn the death of their loved ones.”

Khanyisa runs toward the Jabulani Herd and once they spot her, three of their matriarchs start walking toward the calf.

They all get closer and they start running toward Khanyisa. They trumpet their trunks at her and immediately welcome her and let her stand among them in line.

The elephants start nuzzling Khanyisa with their trunks and grab her trunk in theirs so it looks like they are holding hands with their trunks.

Watch the beautiful welcome Khanyisa experienced from the Jabulani Herd in the video below.
