Carrie Underwood, Christina Applegate and Kristin Chenoweth Sing 60’s Mash-Up

  • by

Three massively talented women – Carrie Underwood, Christina Applegate and Kristin Chenoweth – combined their voices as they sang a mash-up of some of the most memorable songs from the 1960s.

The 1960s was a decade of massive change and upheaval. Americans were sent to the other side of the world to fight and die in Vietnam. John F. Kennedy was elected president. Neil Armstrong walked on the surface of the moon. Martin Luther King Jr., JFK and Robert Kennedy were all assassinated in that decade.

As far as music from the 1960s is concerned, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and The Beach Boys were all doing their thing. Music from female groups such as The Supremes, The Shirelles, The Chiffons and The Ronnettes was also big in the 60s.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Carrie, Christina and Kristin took the stage together. With all sporting poofy pink dresses and towering blonde wigs, the three women give a stunning vocal performance, singing songs from The Ronettes, The Shangri-Las and The Shirelles.

At the conclusion of their performance, the studio audience erupts with thunderous applause, shouts and cheers.

The clip is fantastic, with real talent and musical ability on full display. The three women even move around the stage in choreographed dance moves, similar to those likely to have been performed by groups in the 1960s. However, as great as the clip is, it is still surprising for one big reason: Christina Applegate.

Carrie Underwood, a chart-topping country musician and former American Idol winner, is known for such hits as “Before He Cheats” and “Jesus, Take the Wheel.” Kristin Chenoweth is also known for her voice, primarily for her role in the Broadway musical “Wicked.”

Christina Applegate, though, is an actress, generally not known for her singing ability. Still, she more than holds her own against two accomplished musicians.

Ephesians 5:19 “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;”
