Man rescues badly injured fox and it becomes his new best friend

Mike Trowler’s love for foxes started long before he adopted Cropper, the red fox. He has always been fascinated with their behavior and was an avid supporter of The Fox Project, the Wildlife Information Bureau and Fox Deterrence Consultancy based in Turnbridge Wells, England.

The Fox Project was created in 1991 and has a Wildlife Hospital, established in 1993, where they admit and treat around 700 foxes and 250 cubs each year.

It was here where Mike first heard about Cropper, a fox who was severely injured and lying helplessly by the side of the road.

Cropper was diagnosed with toxoplasmosis, and returning him to the wild was no longer an option. The Fox Project was left with two choices: euthanize the fox or find a home that would accept him.

Despite the risks and responsibilities of owning a pet fox, Mike stepped forward and offered to take Cropper in.

He knew that foxes were not meant to be pets, but he felt that Cropper deserved a second chance at life.

Mike was passionate about rescuing wild foxes and providing them with medical attention, and he saw this as an opportunity to make a difference.

Mike took Cropper home and devoted himself to nursing the fox back to health.

He was patient and loving, providing Cropper with all the love and attention he needed to recover.

Cropper quickly became a part of Mike’s family, eating in a dog’s bowl and napping with Mike’s cats.

The two of them enjoyed going for walks together and spending time in the beautiful outdoors. Mike would often give Cropper belly rubs, which the fox loved.

After six years of happy days together, Cropper passed away while still under Mike’s care.

Despite his loss, Mike did not stop his mission to help foxes in need. He adopted another fox, Jack, who was also rescued and could not be returned to the wild.

Mike may have faced challenges along the way, but he never lost sight of his goal to help foxes in need.

He continues to spread awareness about the importance of caring for wild animals and to educate the public about their proper care and treatment.

Mike’s story serves as a reminder that a little love and care can go a long way in making a difference in the lives of animals.
